I hope this email finds you all healthy, and in good spirits.
In light of the recent news that the Shelter-In-Place (SIP) order is being extended through May 22nd, our hands are tied as to when we can physically return to the fields. I can assure you that the 2020 season has NOT been cancelled at this time. The LYB Executive Board of Directors continues to work behind the scenes, collaborating on a plan to deal with the implications from this COVID-19 pandemic.
First, the good news...LYB has access to the fields through the end of October, so we are dedicated to do whatever it takes to allow the kids a chance to play the game. I understand that this may or may not work for some families. If your child does NOT plan on returning, please let your coach know ASAP so that we can gauge the number of players per team.
Secondly, pictures and apparel orders are in. We are currently putting together a plan where families can "drive-by" and pickup their items. Time, date, and location TBD. Stay tuned.
Now for the bad news...A few families have asked about a potential refund. Unfortunately, we are not giving refunds at this time. Please understand that as with most sports leagues, many of our costs are paid up front. We have already paid for uniforms, equipment, pictures, concession stand, player insurance, field rentals, and many other expenses. If the season is ultimately cancelled, we will address that if/when it occurs with the limited options and resources available to us.
Thank you for your patience during these trying times. We look forward to playing the game of baseball as soon as it's safe to do so.
