REGISTRATION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the cost of registration?
$140 for Rookies and Single A Divisions
$170 for AA, AAA, Minor and Major Divisions
What do registration costs cover?
For the 2021 season, what the cost for registration covers looks a bit different because we were unable to hold any of our league wide fundraisers last year and supply chains are still greatly impacted due to COVID-19. With that we are making the best of the situation; your player will receive 2 jersey's (home and away), LYB Hat, one pair of baseball socks, memory mate photo and team photo (additional photos available for purchase), umpire fees, field maintenance and rental, team equipment, baseballs, league charter and insurance, etc.
What information do I need to have ready when registering my child?
Please have a utility bill (SMUD, PG&E, WATER, GARBAGE ETC) that will verify your address. Please also have your child’s medical insurance information and physician contact information.
What do I need to purchase in addition to registration fees?
It is recommended that your player have a baseball glove, cleats (non-metal), white baseball pants and a belt that matches their team colors. Coaches are provided with bats, batting helmets and catchers gear prior to practices beginning, however some parents choose to purchase their own bat and batting helmet for their child. If purchasing a bat, please make sure it is a USA bat that meets Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth bat rules. Please label all of your players personal equipment with their name.
This year we are encouraging players to have their own batting helmet and bat to help battle COVID-19. This is not a requirement but may help provide families peace of mind that you and your family will be safe playing baseball.
If you have trouble finding gear or are facing financial hardship, please do not let that deter you from having your player play the game of baseball! Laguna Youth Baseball has a wide network of families and donors that have generously offered gently used or new gear, pants, gloves, cleats etc. Please email email@example.com and we are more than willing to help you!
What is the league’s registration refund policy?
*COVID NOTICE* FULL REFUNDS will be given to all registered families if LYB does not have a draft on or before March 27, 2021. You will receive your refund within 5-10 business days of this date. LYB will not have a draft if we do not have the green light to do so.
When are Upper Division Evaluations held?
Evaluations for the upper divisions (AA, AAA, Minors and Majors) will be held February 27, 2021. Times will be determined. There is only ONE evaluation date so please plan accordingly.
*COVID NOTICE* This date is tentative and subject to change.
When will I know what team my player has been assigned or drafted to?
You will hear from your assigned team's coach/manager by March 14, 2021. Practices begin March 15, 2021.
If you do not hear from your coach by Monday, March 15, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
How long is the season?
The 2021 season will end between the last week of May and June 12, 2021.
How many practices and games are there on a weekly basis?
Prior to opening day there will be 2 practices per week that can last 1-2 hours per practice. After opening day, there will be 1 practice and 2 games per week. There is a chance there will be 3 games in a week to accomodate rainouts, COVID timelines, etc.
What time do games start on weeknights?
Games typically begin at either 5:15 pm or 5:30 pm on weeknights. Coaches will typically ask players to arrive for warm-ups and game prep 30 minutes to an hour before game time. Games also occur all day on Saturday.
What Safety measures will be in place to combat COVID-19?
Once we receive the full green light to go from Sacramento County and The Governor's Office, we will send out the more extensive protocols and procedures we have in place. We will fully abide by all requirements and recommendations as put forward by Sacramento County, CDC, Etc.
Here are a few safety measures that will/can be enforced:
-Masks Must be Worn by EVERYONE at all times unless on the field of play.
-Baseballs will be Disinfected between every half inning.
-Catchers Gear will be disinfected after each use. *Catchers can also use their own, personal gear*
-Players/Coaches spaced out in dugouts, down the line or within the stands.
-Family Cohorts spaced 6 feet apart down the line or in the outfield.
-Limited Sharing of Gear, disinfected between instances of sharing.
-Encourage Handwashing/Hand Sanitizers between each half inning.
-Disinfection/wipe down of dugouts after games.
-Stay home if you, your child or a family member has been sick, is feeling sick or has come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
*These are just SOME examples of the measures we will be taking to ensure safety but getting back out and playing baseball!
How can I help?
Our league is run 100% by volunteers! We can always use your help! We need team volunteers such as scorekeepers, parent volunteers to help prepare fields for games and practices, team parents, coaches, assistant coaches, snack bar volunteers, events committees and general and executive board members as well as corporate and family sponsors. You do not need experience to coach or assistant coach. No volunteer opportunity is too big or small! If you would like to help, please email email@example.com or if you are interested in a corporate sponsorship opportunity please email firstname.lastname@example.org
We are currently in need of Lysol Disinfectant Spray, Lysol Wipes, Hand Sanitizer to distribute to all teams to help keep coaches, players and families safe! If you have or can donate these items, please email email@example.com! We are so grateful for your help!
